My Journey

Embark on a journey of discovery with me as your guide to unravelling the mysteries of French genealogy. With a passion for uncovering the stories of the past, I specialise in French family history research, helping you trace your ancestors through the rich tapestry of French heritage.

I have lived in France most of my adult life, first arriving on French soil in the late 70's on the legendary Magic Bus. The Magic Bus travelled the hippie trail overland from Europe to India. I didn't get that far. India would come later. I had already travelled half the world and chose to disembark in France where I began working for a tour company in Paris. There began a lifelong love affair with France, her culture and people.  France would become the backdrop for life's defining moments - love, marriage, birth and death, all have occurred for me there.  

My journey as a genealogist began twenty-three years ago but the seed had been planted some thirty years prior when my mother's memory failed her. 

My mother never did recall her grandmother's maiden name, whispered to her, as her mother, my grandmother, prepared to take her leave from this world to take her place amongst the ancestors.

The year was 1970. 

Three decades later I would develop a heightened, intuitive awareness, a persistant insistence, urging the importance of knowing my great 

grandmother's maiden name. 

Then a novice to genealogical research it wasn't I who unearthed that elusive name, but an experienced fellow researcher that skillfully unraveled that mystery. 

I would turn my attention to the French line, the paternal line of my children, and it was there I found my ease, my passion, my place in the world of genealogy.

My intuition has continued to serve me, those I research for, and the ancestors. 

I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. My work is strictly limited to researching ancestors who lived in France. 

Today I work both remotely from my island home and on site when in France.
